Dr James Choi / Keynote

Dr James Choi is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Bioengineering at Imperial College London and leads the Non-invasive Surgery & Biopsy Laboratory. He received the B.S.E. degree in computer engineering at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, (USA) and a Ph.D. degree in Biomedical Engineering at Columbia University, (USA). In 2011, he then conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Oxford, (UK) as a Frederick V. Hunt Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Acoustics.

In 2013, he founded the Non-invasive Surgery & Biopsy Laboratory at Imperial College London, London, United Kingdom, whose mission is to create the next generation of non-invasive microsurgical devices for the treatment and diagnosis of diseases. In 2022, he was awarded the Frederic Lizzi Award for his contributions to focused ultrasound methods for delivering drugs to the brain and for his vision for the field of therapeutic ultrasound.
